Escena Latino Teatro presents Marriage, Mentiras & Mantras
From an early age, Elena never wanted to be like some of the women in her family. During her youth, as her social circle expanded, she distanced herself more and more from her roots. Yet, after an abrupt separation from her husband, Elena’s family said “presente” and accepted her back. Seeking comfort in her family’s religious ways but still questioning the faith behind their prayers sets the tone for Elena’s spiritual journey. This bilingual drama explores themes of divorce, identity, alcoholism, and feminism.
Approximate run time: Marriage, Mentiras, and Mantras plays in 1 hour and 30 minutes with no intermission.
