Eric M. Corvalán Pelle, an award-winning Cuban filmmaker will be showing his film, Race/Raza and commenting on it.

Race (Raza): A Cuban Documentary in Colors (2009). Alternating opinions expressed by everyday citizens with interviews of prominent Cuban intellectuals and artists, the 35-minute film explores what Cubans think and believe about race, including about racial discrimination in Cuba and the acknowledged debt owed to Cubans of African descent. Set against the successes of the Revolution, the film courageously addresses the difficult debate over how a revolutionary society can persevere in tackling the unfinished work of bringing social justice to each and every one of its members. Corvalan has continued to work on the issues of race/racism in Cuba as a member of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba.
