The American Red Cross of Massachusetts is proud to present this learning opportunity as part of their International Services programming.

In recognition of World Refugee Day, Journalist Julia Lieblich will discuss why people flee the Northern Triangle countries (Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador) in hopes of finding a haven in the United States. She will look at the dangerous journey and obstacles to applying for asylum. She will ask what step the U.S. government can take to improve conditions in Latin America. Finally, she will talk about how to avoid re-traumatizing refugees in the United States.

They will also provide a brief overview of the Red Cross Restoring Family Links program which reconnects families separated by migration, armed conflict, & national disasters. For more information about accessing this free service: https://www.redcross.org/reconnectingfamilies
