Latino Pioneers in Boston @BPLBoston

  • Boston Public Library 700 Boylston Street Boston, MA, 02116 United States (map)

A tribute to the unheard voices of the Hispanic community who with “mucho sudor (lots of sweat)" paved the way for the next generations, Latino Pioneers in Boston uses film, print, and exhibition to follow the journeys of eight leaders: Antonio Molina, Alfredo de Jesus, Maria Sanchez, Carmen Pola, Alberto Vassallo, Frieda Garcia, Jaime Rodriguez, and Regla Gonzalez. Curated by local producer and director Blanca E. Bonilla and guided by Boston-based sociologist Miren Uriarte, these unique stories of resilience, strength, and accomplishments contour the migration of Latinos to Massachusetts and their contributions to Boston.

The program will feature a screening of the 110-minute-long documentary followed by a Q&A with Bonilla and some of the Latino Pioneers.
