Buenos Aires–based saxophonist, arranger, and composer Bernardo Monk visits his alma mater in a reunion with great friends revisiting his music. Berklee alumni and Latin Grammy nominee, Monk is the author of three tango books and a worldwide reference for including the saxophone and improvisation in tango music. His repertoire is a unique blend of the jazz and tango sounds reflected in his eight albums as a soloist. The concert will include a clinic on some of the main tango features, such as comping and phrasing as well as on how to approach this music from the perspective of an improvising jazz musician.
