Selected 2023 A-Típico finalist and 2024 O'Neill NPC finalist, it is a fresh, funny and poignant interpretation of Lorca's House of Bernarda Alba set in Miami.
Alba was one of three plays selected out of 60 submissions for Teatro Chelsea’s A-Típico New Play festival in 2023, and subsequently chosen for further development and a full production at Teatro.
Alejandro Rodriguez an award-winning Cuban playwright based in Miami, has weaved together the threads of family, humor, exile and memories into a beautiful exploration of how we come to understand our place in the world.
Elliot Norton award-winning director Mariela López-Ponce, Co-Artistic director of Teatro Chelsea, leads a cast featuring Elisa Guzman-Hosta (Alba), Luz Lopez (Amelia), Ricardo "Ricky" Holguín* (Poet), Inés De La Cruz* (Josefina), Paola Ferrer (Yolanda), Amber-Nicole Rodriguez (Adela), Jessibel Falcon (Angie), and Carmen Serrato (Gladys.)
