A votar, democracy needs you @baseboston

Pandemic or not, gerrymandering and other obstacles to democracy aside, we must participate in our political process, if at least to earn our right to gripe. That means voting in primary, local and county elections too, not just the November General Election.

Hat’s off to our reliable mail carriers, who put themselves in harm’s way and are getting sick too. As a result, snail-mail is at a slower snail’s pace than usual, so get in your request for an absentee/mail-in ballot now.

FIRST

Triple check that your voter registration is updated.

SECOND

If you want to avoid in-person Early-voting (Aug. 22nd to 28th) or voting on Sept. 1st Mass. Primary Election Day in your request for an absentee/mail-in ballot now. It must be received by your local election office by Aug. 26th, be sure to do this as immediately as possible.

THIRD

¡A votar!

Get informed on candidates. Here’s one example of a resource for Mass. District 8. Scour your local newspapers, social media, ask around and see who’s running for what seats.

Study up, volunteer, spread the word

Since due to the pandemic, there are no door knocking or events, if someone’s campaign resonates with your values, volunteer for phone banking for example. Help get the vote out, spread the word, tell your family, friends and neighbors in Mass. and beyond.
